Job Skills / Requirements
Security experience is required for this position.
Candidates with law enforcement experience will be prioritized for this position.
Military veterans and people with firefighting, department of corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.
Shift Opening: 1st shifts, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday with weekend availability as needed.
Rate of Pay: $26.75/hour (set by contract, non-negotiable)*
*Pay rates vary by contract and position, typical rates range from $16-19/hour. The rate shown here is for the supervisory position described below. Candidates who do not meet the availability or experience requirements might be migrated to other contracts within the company based on their other qualifications.
This position is full-time (40 hours per week).
About this Contract:
Security Officers perform a variety of duties. This position is a supervisory patrol officer who commutes between several buildings owned by a utility company. This position requires that the supervisor:
- Coordinate and direct contracted security personnel, including training, scheduling, and discipline;
- Manage schedules and assignments for security personnel and ensure proper coverage at multiple site locations;
- Be available to assist in case of an emergency or deal with unruly individuals on the job site in a calm and professional manner.
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with the client and their on-site and off-site management.
The open position is for a Security Supervisor. Each officer is expected to perform their duties according to the post orders, including the supervisor. This position will oversee a team of 12-24 personnel.
About the Uniform:
The dress code for this contract is a black DK Security embroidered polo and khaki slacks that will be issued by the company during new hire orientation. Shoes must be primarily black and designed for heavy walking. Boots are preferable. No open-toed shoes or shoes with holes. Additional uniform pieces will be issued as needed.
Other contracts will have varying uniform requirements. Security uniforms are provided at no cost when required by the contract, and must be returned at the end of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have at least 1 year of verifiable prior experience in a supervisory role.
- Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067 §17(2).
- Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Since our company contracts with the federal government, we must comply to federal laws regarding the use of marijuana, regardless of whether it is used recreationally or medicinally.
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
- Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
- Must be able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
- Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person or via radio.
- Must be able to use a smart mobile phone or computer to check emails and complete online training.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and navigate difficult conversations with a high-level of understanding and professionalism.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be professional and possess excellent customer service skills.
- Must have excellent personal integrity and a positive attitude.
- Must complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies.
