Sunstates Security has an immediate opening for a talented, professional, and motivated Operations Manager to help lead our NY Regional office in the Albany area and surrounding areas*. The Operations Manager is responsible for the daily functioning of security services for a portfolio of contract sites including operations, customer service, personnel management, recruiting, administration and security & safety in accordance with Sunstates objectives.

*Local candidates only as this role must be available to visit client sites in and around Albany, as well as occasional visits to sites in Vermont, Maine and Boston.
 
The ideal candidate will provide leadership to employees and develop and maintain strong relationships with employees and customers.

This position offers a full compensation package of up to $90,000 - dependent on experience - which includes -

The Operations Manager will assist in the administration, management and recruiting for the region by: 

  • Training, developing, and motivating supervisory staff to effectively oversee all day-to-day operations of the site security personnel.
  • Training subordinate supervisors on software systems, procedural guidelines, and company policies and enforcing consistency in policy practice.
  • Enter weekly payroll into the payroll system. 
  • Confirm all billing is correct by reviewing weekly SAR reports, reviewing invoices, and communicating with accounts receivable. 
  • Reviewing weekly scheduling and setting up schedules in advance.
  • Control all unbillable overtime and reduce overtime percentages weekly to meet company overtime goals.  
  • Conducting regular in-person meetings with clients.
  • Responding to personnel concerns and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the Regional Manager and Regional Director to establish regional goals and objectives and communicate these with branch staff.
  • Work with sales and marketing to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Conducting interviews, hiring, and completing the employee on-boarding process into the system including collecting new hire paperwork and uploading documents for processing.
  • Visiting sites to follow up on employee training and completing employee surveys for new hires.
  • Completing monthly required site visits and audits in accordance with the Quality Assurance program. Site visits are required to be completed monthly into the system and include site visits on evenings and weekends.
  • Weekly review of Compliance such as Security licensing, Training and CPR.
  • Set up CPR training for new hires.
  • Provide positive employee experience. 
  • Update Security Operations Manuals as needed. 
  • Set up security tour system and monitor security patrols. 
  • Acknowledge employees for outstanding job performance.
  • Assist other Operations Managers with new job start-ups and cover PTO.
  • Work on creating schedules for new hires and manage team schedules.
  • Attend and set up job fairs for hiring. 
  • Manage security team and provide support to security staff.
  • Order uniforms for new hires.
  • Work on new service start-up on new accounts. 
  • Communicate with customers on hiring needs.
  • Communicate with the Sunstates management team. 

The requirements for the Operations Manager include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year college or university is preferred.
  • 3 or more years of related management and leadership in the security industry, law enforcement, or military.
  • Prior armed security or weapons experience.
  • Valid NYS Security Guard License or Armed Security Guard License.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Experience with scheduling software.
  • Ability to travel and regularly visit all site locations for the regional branch, to include NY, ME, VT, and Boston.
  • Ability to travel to other states and locations to assist in start-ups and operational needs.
  • Flexibility to be on call as needed during all shifts.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Management and in coordination with the Regional Manager. Sun123
