Prior law enforcement experience is required for this position.
Military veterans and people with firefighting, department of corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.
Shift Opening: 1st shifts, must be available between the hours of 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Rate of Pay: $23.23/hour (set by contract, non-negotiable)*

This position is part-time (0-29 hours per week). Additional hours can be offered based on your availability.
About this Contract:
Security Officers perform a variety of duties. This contract is a high level security position at a state courthouse. The primary duties of the security team consist of protecting the client's staff and visitors and their property from injury, harassment, damage, and theft. This position requires security officers to:
- Keep people in the halls and waiting rooms calm and orderly by providing excellent customer service.
- Maintain a presence in the building reception area.
- Periodically sweep the building on foot being on the look out for suspicious activity.
- Remotely monitor security surveillance cameras for activity.
- Provide off-site security to VIPs as needed.
- Assist courtroom staff and visiting personnel with security concerns, including evaluating potential risks and recommending appropriate action.
- Stand guard near hall and courtroom entrances to prevent unauthorized access to secure or private areas.
- Assist in case of an emergency, including providing first aid and handling unruly individuals, in a calm and professional manner.
The open position is for a Armed Security Officer. This position is part of a team of other officers providing the above services to the client. Armed security officers at this contract do not detain individuals unless directed to do so by the proper officials. This position may occasionally be required to assist with courtroom security duties as needed.
About the Uniform:
The dress code for this contract is navy dress pants, a navy blazer and tie, a black belt, and a white button-down shirt. These items will be provided by the company. Shoes must be black dress shoes or loafers. Open-toed shoes are not permitted. Additional uniform pieces will be issued as needed.
Other contracts will have varying uniform requirements. Security uniforms are provided at no cost when required by the contract, and must be returned at the end of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have at least 1 year of verifiable prior experience in law enforcement.
- Must be at least 21 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067 §17(2).
- Must be a licensed CPL or LEOSA cardholder and be able to pass an MCOLES firearm qualification and defensive tactics training at the time of hire.
- Must pass a written psychological evaluation at the time of hire.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Since our company contracts with the federal government, we must comply to federal laws regarding the use of marijuana, regardless of whether it is used recreationally or medicinally.
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
- Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time and must be able to lift at least 70 lbs.
- Must be able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
- Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person or via radio.
- Must be able to use a smart mobile phone or computer to check emails and complete online training.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be professional and possess excellent customer service skills.
- Must have excellent personal integrity and a positive attitude.
- Must complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies.

- DK Security will recommend qualified applicants to be approved by the client.
- The client's staff will meet in person with recommended candidates for an interview.
- Client approval is required to get this position. If approved, DK Security will notify you and attempt to schedule orientation and training.
- Approved candidates who do not respond timely may be passed over in lieu of other qualified and approved candidates.
